Welcome to the official Wortley Football Club Website
Founded in 1974, Wortley Football Club, Leeds, is a not for profit organisition, community and family based football club, which is dedicated to the furtherance of youth and open age football. The club is proud to be a FA Charter Standard Community Club which is the kite mark for a safe and friendly environment to learn the skills of football with FA qualified coaches who are also CRB checked and have current First Aid, Safeguarding Children and WRCFA Youth Football certification.
We provide football opportunities for children (boys and girls) in the community of West Leeds from ages 4 to 17 and beyond into open age football. Wortley Football Club aims to provide opportunities which are facilitated by quality training and playing facilities to all club members regardless race, gender, religion or ability and to improve both individual and team skills both on and off the field of play.
We are an ambitious club dedicated to the provision of Grass Roots football and Mini Soccer in the community of West Leeds. The club is run by its own committee of 10 members which administers its affairs both on and off the field. We provide training facilities and arrange friendly and competitive football for all of our teams. We have 5 match day venues across the West Leeds area and 3 training facilities. Our teams compete in 6 leagues across West Yorkshire ; the Garforth League, Leeds & District League, West Riding Girls League, Charles Rice League, Keybury League and Yorkshire Old Boys League. We are affiliated to the West Riding County Football Association.
Our well established junior section has 12 boys’ teams (from Under 7 through to Under 17) and 2 girl’s teams (Under 16 and Under 13) and for our younger children, aged 6 and under, we run Wortley Soccer Tots sessions every Saturday morning during school term.
We also have 3 open age men’s teams and 1 open age women’s team for the children of our junior section to progress into once they reach adulthood. We are striving to further develop both the girls and boys juniors sections over the coming seasons by creating additional teams.
We aim to be a fun club for our children and comfortable enough for parents to feel involved in helping run junior football. As with each age group the Club welcomes potential players of all abilities, boys and girls and it is never too late to start to play.
So if you are currently aged between 4 years and upwards and you would like to be involved with a well established community club, why not contact the age group manager who’s details can be found on the Club & Team Contactspage on the left.

WORTLEY FC DADS, MUMS, RELATIVES 5 A SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT - SAT 25th JULY 2009
Wortley Football Club have organised a parents 5 a side football competition at Soccer City on Saturday 25th July. It is hoped that each age group will be able to field a team consisting of parents, relatives and supporters of our junior and open age teams. Each age group will require at least 8 players with roll on and roll off subs. Please contact your team manager for further details and we hope to see 17 five a side teams down at Soccer City. The cost of entry is £7 per person which will cover the cost of hiring the venue for the afternoon. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team and it is hoped that this will become an annual event.
We will also be raffling a signed Jonathan Douglas Leeds United Frame Shirt during the event so your support would be greatly appreciated. The signed shirt was kindly donated to Wortley Football Club by Martin and Sharon Chadwick, the parents of Adam Chadwick who was tragically killed in June 2008 and was a former member of Wortley FC.

WEATHER HOLDS OFF AS OVER 150 COMPLETE SPONSORED WALK
Over 150 players, parents and supporters took part in the first club organised sponsored walk on Saturday 6th June despite dark clouds hovering over the route for much of the walk.
The sponsored walk commenced at the entrance to Armley Park School and finished at the Abbey Inn Pub (a total of 3 miles) where the club and pub combined to provide those completing the walk with a BBQ feast which was run like clockwork by a number of club officials.
This is the first organised event since the club became a registred charity last November and the club will be able to claim Gift Aid of 25p for each £1 donated.
Below is a photo which was taken at the end of the walk with people waiting patiently for food to roll off the BBQ.
Many thanks to those who participated in the walk and raised funds for their age group section and club at the same time. Also a special thank you to Pub Landlord Martin Lockett who allowed us to provide a relaxing setting for the end of the walk and also for contributing to a successful event.

The following story appears in Thursday Night's (04/06/2009) edition of the Yorkshire Evening Post :
Tears were shed when murder victim
Adam Chadwick was remembered at his old football club - Wortley FC.
The 20-year-old dad was gunned down as he called at his sister's home in Clifton Mount, Harehills, on June 24 2008.
The popular amateur footballer had just returned from working as a carpet fitter in London.
As the hunt for his killers continues, the First Team Player of the Year award for his former team, Wortley Boys, was presented to midfielder
Barrie Danby, 19.
Barrie, who knew Adam well, was presented at West Leeds Social Club with the award by Adam's parents, Jackie and Martin as Adam's daughter Ruby, three, looked on.
Martin Chadwick told
Yorkshire Evening Post &
Wortley Today: "We see it as a great honour for Adam. When they announced the award the room fell silent and we think that was a measure of the respect members held him in.
"Many people came up to us to say how sorry they were about what had happned . It was very moving."
Paul Hatfield, the club's third team and under 13s manager, who had coached Adam, said: "He was a pleasure to coach and a thoroughly nice lad."
Mr and Mrs Chadwick donated a Leeds United team shirt which is to be raffled to raise funds for the club.
